Reel Styling Wednesday | Week 5
Spring is in the air, in Texas! Today’s look is a feminine styled nightstand, inspired by the flowers starting to bloom.
Not every piece has to be a “girly” tone to achieve a definite feminine energy. In fact, it’s better if you add in a little bit of depth to the feminine touches. Neutrals… either grays, beiges, or soft whites are the best way to set up the color. I LOVE a good marble or alabaster stone added in when I’m trying to do warm-tone colors.
If you’ve been following along with these styling posts, you know my basics. Mix textures, stones, color, and metals. Have fun with this! One thing I always tell clients is to not worry about trends as much as what they like. If you have a book cover or piece of art that totally inspires you and hits you right in the “feels” for what you want your home to say about you, start with that and build the entire room around THAT thing. You will start finding pieces in line with everything you love and have fun doing it, verse worrying about the next big thing.
Another technique I used here is stacking. Stack a few of your favorite books or books in the same color-story to give height and weight to a smaller object. You know, those Homegoods finds that you like but are too small in scale to use anywhere on their own? Stacking books, boxes, or adding an acrylic/stone cube underneath makes it feel much larger and fills space on large shelves or consoles better.
Hope you enjoy!
